Alumni Communications Assistant
Job Description
The communications work study student will report to the AVP of Alumni Relations and work directly to support 51ÂÜÀòAlumni Relations communications goals through social media, e-mails, website content, phone and written correspondence with our alumni.
Specific tasks include:
- Through research and outreach- increase followers on the LinkedIn. Tasks include outreach to invite members of our alumni community to follow the 51ÂÜÀòAlumni Association LinkedIn page with a target of 5k followers by end of FY25 Academic Year.
- Develop content and increase followers on other 51ÂÜÀòAlumni social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook. Tasks include outreach to invite members of our alumni community to follow and engage with our platforms.
- Assist creating emails promoting 51ÂÜÀòAlumni programs and events. Tasks include creating, editing, formatting, and distributing email invitations.
- Research and assist with article content at the direction of the AVP for the monthly Alumni Newsletter: The Roger Record featuring 51ÂÜÀòalumni, 51ÂÜÀòalumni programs and events, and campus-wide programs. Tasks include conducting interviews, writing compelling stories, and editing for 51ÂÜÀòstyle.
- Compile and edit received Class Notes submitted from LinkedIn, emails, etc. and add into Raisers Edge database.
- Assist greeting and assisting guests, answering the phone, and responding to inquiries.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including:
- Oral communication for in-person or over the phone interviews with alumni, as well as an ability to represent the Alumni Association in a professional manner at programs and events,
- Writing skills (ability to write engaging, accurate compelling social media posts and stories),
- Editing skills (ability to edit copy for grammar and style) Proficiency in social media, website content, and mobile/computer applications,
- Proficient in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn),
- Experience with mobile image/video content creation apps and applications such as Canva, Photoshop, etc. (or proven ability to learn new apps and technology)
