"The Industry I Always Wanted To Be In"
Music and philosophy major Aidan Curren '20 is working at the forefront of the music industry. His senior capstone project led to his current role as Publicity Assistant for PARMA Recordings, a recording company in New Hampshire.
We put out some great music. Its great to be able to hear what is coming out, digest it, and be on the frontlines of music. Its stuff I probably never would have heard of had I not been working here, said Curran.
Associate Professor of Music Composition, Theory and Technology Elliott McKinley, who works in the industry as a composer, initially connected Curren with PARMA Recordings.
[McKinley] is a client of PARMA Recordings. He has a pretty close relationship with the company, so he was able to set me up with an internship as my capstone for the music major, said Curran. He recognized my work ethic and thought that, based on what I want to do, some practical experience in the industry would suit me.
His internship opened the door to a part-time position, which then grew to full-time.
Curran helps PARMA Recordings with outreach to various forms of press, such as radio stations and magazines. He works to boost air play and critical review of the companys product.
Its certainly the industry I always wanted to be in. When I think about that, I feel lucky, said Curran.
