Studio Time Prepares Architecture Grad for Hensel Phelps Position

Bodie Ibrahim ’23, an Architecture major who minored in Photography and Digital Media, has accepted a job as a field engineer for Hensel Phelps.

Studio Success: “What I liked most about the Architecture program was the studios. We had five-hour sessions three times a week. I learned a lot about the practice and from professors’ critiques. My professors pushed me outside my boundaries and wanted me to try new designs. That really helped me. The studio was a big part of bringing me to where I am today.”

Invaluable Internship: “I did an internship with Narofsky Architecture on Long Island, where I got to learn more about the field and practice of Architecture. I was tasked with building a 3D model for a renovation project for a hospital in New York and presenting to clients. I also built leadership skills and learned to take initiative. It’s gotten me to where I am now.”

Career Center Connections: “I wanted to try a position in construction. The Center for Career and Professional Development sent an email that Hensel Phelps was coming to campus and hosting an information session. I took the opportunity and signed up. I then got an interview with two of the Roger alumni who came to present. I remember that the week I had my last swim meet of the season, I heard that I got the job.”

Ibrahim, a record-setting member of the Men’s Swim Team and a resident assistant, is from Sunnyside, N.Y.
