Instructional Design Services

Instructional Design & Technologies is a unit within the Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship under Academic Affairs. Our primary focus is to provide resources, support, and training to faculty and students throughout the University on academic technologies that enhance learning and teaching.

Among the technologies we support are the (Sakai) Learning Management System used with all our courses, along with video capture, instructional web conferencing, social annotation, student response systems, and anti-plagiarism tools.

 The Instructional Design Team:

  • Supports the integration of instructional technology and instructional design best practices to enhance teaching and learning at the University;
  • Collaborates with faculty and administrators to advance initiatives that contribute to the University's mission and goals in providing flexible and responsive delivery options for a range of student populations, both undergraduate and graduate, onsite, online and blended;
  • Provides faculty with innovative technology solutions and conduct research and development to stay abreast of advances in the field of educational technology and use this knowledge to create scalable, sustainable projects;
  • Provides resources, support, and training to faculty and students throughout the University.

  • Consultations are available by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, EST. Please email us directly at id@rwu.edu to schedule a meeting.

Learning Technologies Training and Development

The Instructional Design & Technologies unit of the Center for Teaching, Learning & Scholarship and our Learning Commons partners, provides a range of options for faculty and student development around instructional technologies from one-on-one consultations, to on-campus workshops, online workshops, in-class tutorials and just-in-time access to tutorials and documentation. Options include:

One-on-One Consultations

If you would like to make an appointment with a member of the Instructional Design staff to learn about specific software or strategy, please send e-mail to id@rwu.edu and include your name, contact information, the topic you wish to work on and your availability. A member of the ID team will get back to you to schedule a meeting. 

Group Sessions by Request

The ID staff is also available to do departmental or small group workshops on request. These can be done on-site. Please send your request for this type of session to id@rwu.edu and include your contact information, the topic you would like covered, the members of the group that would like to be included, and some suggested meeting times.

On-Campus and Online Workshops

Please explore  and register for a topic of interest. If you don't see what you want, please send e-mail to id@rwu.edu and request a session. We'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
